HISTORY OF THE EDMUNDITES IN VENEZUELA

Holy Trinity Parish (Parroquia de la Santísima Trinidad) originates as one parish comprising two geographical and sociological areas: Las Minas, an area commonly referred to a Barrio
and Prados del Este, an upper middle class area.

To clarify from the start who the Edmundites are who have worked in Venezuela, the following is a list of same in order of arrival:

1964   On the vigil of the Feast of Kings the first three Edmundites arrive -Lawrence Lyons, William Condon, Joseph Haffly. This is in response to Pope John XXIII ‘s appeal to religious communities to send 10% of their members to Latin America. The Pope's feeling was that LA was experiencing a re-birth in Christianity and needed help to evangelize. Caracas offered the opportunity for community work in two communities - rich and poor, to attempt to bridge gaps and bring the two classes together as much as possible, as well as be a part of social awareness process.
